Mysuru Police Commissioner Seema Latkar commented on the cylinder blast incident, saying, “Around 8:30 PM near the Jayamarthanda Gate, a man was selling helium balloons on a bicycle. The small cylinder used to fill the balloons with gas suddenly exploded. The balloon vendor died. Four other people passing by were injured. We are investigating the matter.”

Regarding the identity of the deceased, Seema Latkar said that it has not yet been confirmed. She added, “One person is in critical condition. One is from Nanjangud and another is from Bengaluru. Two others have not yet spoken. We will gather information from them.”

When asked whether the injured people were outsiders or locals, the police officer said, “The person from Bengaluru appears to be a tourist on vacation. One is from Nanjangud, and the others are said to be locals, but this needs to be confirmed. The names include Manjula Lakshmi from Bengaluru, Manjula from Nanjangud, Kotreshi from Ranebennur, and Shahina from Kolkata. We are re-verifying their identities.”
Balloon vendor died on the spot
Police officer Seema Latkar further stated that the balloon vendor was a local resident. He was approximately 40 years old. One person died in this incident, and four people were injured. A total of five people were affected.
