DRDO conducted the first flight test of the Pinaka long-range guided rocket, which was successful. The test was conducted at the Integrated Test Range, Chandipur.

The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) is continuously working to strengthen India’s armed forces. Now, the DRDO has achieved another major success on Monday. The DRDO successfully tested the Pinaka Long Range Guided Rocket (LRGR) at the Integrated Test Range in Chandipur, Odisha. The range of this long-range guided rocket is reported to be up to 120 kilometers. The rocket successfully completed all planned maneuvers and accurately hit its target.

Rocket Hits Target
The Pinaka rocket was designed by the Armament Research and Development Establishment in collaboration with the High Energy Materials Research Laboratory. The Defence Research and Development Laboratory and Research Centre Imarat provided technical support in the manufacturing of this rocket, and the testing was conducted by the ITR and Proof and Experimental Establishment.

DRDO Chairman Witnesses Test
The Secretary of the Department of Defence Research and Development and Chairman of DRDO, Dr. Samir V. Kamat, witnessed the Pinaka test and congratulated all the teams for successfully achieving the mission objectives. The LRGR was launched from an in-service Pinaka launcher. This demonstrates the versatility of the launcher and provides the capability to launch multiple range Pinaka variants from a single launcher.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh Congratulates
The Ministry of Defence of India shared information about this successful test on its official X handle. The Ministry of Defence stated, “The first flight test of the Pinaka Long Range Guided Rocket (LRGR 120) was successfully completed today at ITR, Chandipur. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh congratulated DRDO and all other stakeholders on this achievement.” According to reports, Rajnath Singh called this test a game-changer and said that the successful design and development of the long-range guided rocket will enhance the capabilities of the armed forces.
