A significant chapter has been added to the history of the Jharkhand Police. Tadasha Mishra, a 1994 batch IPS officer, has been appointed as the permanent Director General of Police (DGP) of Jharkhand, after serving as the acting DGP. With this appointment, she has become the first permanent female DGP of Jharkhand. A notification in this regard has been issued by the Home, Prisons, and Disaster Management Department of the Jharkhand government.
Earlier, after the voluntary retirement of the then Jharkhand DGP, IPS Anurag Gupta, the state government had appointed Tadasha Mishra as the acting DGP on November 6, 2025. Interestingly, Tadasha Mishra was scheduled to retire on December 31, 2025, but the government took this important decision just one day before her retirement, appointing her to the permanent DGP post.
1994 Batch IPS Officer
Tadasha Mishra, a 1994 batch IPS officer, is known for her strict and no-nonsense approach. Her work experience has been impressive. During the time of undivided Bihar, she served as the City SP of Ranchi, the winter capital. She has also served as the Commandant of the Jharkhand Armed Police (JAP-1). While serving as the Superintendent of Police in sensitive districts like Bokaro and Giridih in Jharkhand, she effectively maintained law and order.

Tadasha Mishra has also served as the Additional Director General of Police (Railways) and gained administrative experience as a Special Secretary in the Home, Prisons, and Disaster Management Department. Her role in anti-Naxal operations has been particularly noteworthy. While serving as the SP of Bokaro, she led operations in the Naxalite strongholds of Jhumra Hill and Lugu Hill, instilling fear among the Naxalites.
Originally from Odisha, Tadasha Mishra cleared the UPSC examination in 1994 and joined the IPS service. She was initially allotted the Bihar cadre, but after the formation of Jharkhand, she remained in the Jharkhand cadre.
