Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Pawar has been allotted the Devgiri bungalow in Malabar Hill as her official residence. An official order to this effect has been issued by the General Administration Department (GAD) of the Maharashtra government. Previously, the late Ajit Pawar resided in the same bungalow for a long period during his tenure as Deputy Chief Minister and Leader of the Opposition in the Maharashtra Assembly.
It is also worth noting that Sunetra Pawar, who was sworn in as Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra, has been allotted the same office chambers in the Secretariat that were previously occupied by Ajit Pawar. The state government has taken a decision in this regard, and the General Administration Department (GAD) has issued a government order.
Sunetra Pawar gets four departments
According to the government order, the chambers located on the fifth, sixth, and seventh floors of the Secretariat, which were previously used by Ajit Pawar, have now been allotted to Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Pawar. Sunetra Pawar has been given charge of four departments. Sunetra Pawar, who was sworn in as Deputy Chief Minister after the death of Ajit Pawar, has been given responsibility for departments such as State Excise, Sports and Youth Welfare, Minority Affairs, and Waqf.
Maharashtra’s first woman Deputy Chief Minister
Sunetra Pawar became Maharashtra’s first woman Deputy Chief Minister on Saturday and was allocated the Excise, Sports, Minority Development, and Waqf departments, but not the Finance and Planning departments, which were held by her late husband, Ajit Pawar. The brief swearing-in ceremony took place in the Lok Sabha, three days after the death of NCP president and Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar in a plane crash in Baramati on January 28.
Resigned from Rajya Sabha membership
Sunetra Pawar has resigned from her Rajya Sabha membership. She is currently not a member of either house of the state legislature and is expected to contest the by-election for the Baramati assembly seat, which was represented by her late husband.
