Deputy Leader of the Opposition in the Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly, Hemant Katare, has resigned from his post. He submitted his resignation to Congress Party National President Mallikarjun Kharge, Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee President Jitu Patwari, and Leader of the Opposition Umang Singar. Hemant Katare, Congress MLA from Ater constituency in Bhind district, stated in his resignation letter that he was resigning due to his inability to devote sufficient time to his family and the people of his constituency.

Unable to devote time to his family and constituency

Organization General Secretary Dr. Sanjay Kamle stated that Hemant Katare cited family responsibilities and a lack of time in his resignation letter. He clarified that under the current circumstances, he was unable to devote the required time and attention to his constituency, which is why he resigned from the post of Deputy Leader of the Opposition.

He was, is, and will remain with the Congress Party
He also clarified that Hemant Katare’s resignation relates only to his position, not to his party membership. He was, is, and will remain with the Congress Party with complete loyalty.

Resignation not yet accepted
He stated that the final decision on whether to accept Hemant Katare’s resignation as Deputy Leader of the Opposition rests with the discretion of State Congress President Jitu Patwari and the party’s top leadership.

No one knew such a thing was going to happen – Umang Singhar
Leader of the Opposition Umang Singhar said, “I received information from you. I was in the House. It’s a family matter, I will inquire about the matter. Fellow MLAs told me he was doing good work. He had a good performance. I ate dinner with everyone, but none of my fellow MLAs knew such a thing was going to happen. Surprisingly, I am unaware of anything. His family is a long-standing Congress family. Hemant Katare would not take such a step.”
