Election 2024: Election Commission took unprecedented step in view of fear of violence in West Bengal, 100 companies of central forces will reach West Bengal on March 1, 50 companies of central forces will reach on March 7.

Lok Sabha elections are yet to be announced. The entire team of the Election Commission has not yet reached West Bengal, but in view of the possibility of violence before the elections, 100 companies of Central Force will be deployed in West Bengal from March 1. After that, 50 more company forces will arrive on March 7. In this way, 150 companies of central forces will reach Bengal in the first week of March. According to the information received, they will start area domination after coming to the state. Never in the past has the Central Force arrived so much before the announcement of elections. Political experts say that undoubtedly this action of the Election Commission is unprecedented.

However, the Election Commission has not yet said anything clear about how this force will work and under whose authority it will work. Elections are likely to be announced in early March. It is known that there are more than 80 thousand booths in this state. This time voting will take place at every booth.

The full bench of the National Election Commission is coming on March 3. The full bench has called an all-party meeting. A meeting will be held with the police administration regarding election preparations. Besides, they will also look into the pre-election situation of this state. Similarly, how many central forces and what security measures will have to be taken? A draft of this will also be prepared.

40 votes were cast in Panchayat elections, chaos in Sandeshkhali
Let us tell you that last year in 2023, political violence had shaken the politics of West Bengal in the Panchayat elections. The 2023 West Bengal Panchayat elections saw widespread violence in several districts, with more than 40 people killed in intra-party and inter-party clashes, even though central forces were deployed during the elections.

Similarly, last month, ED officials who had gone to raid the house of TMC leader Shahjahan Sheikh in Sandeshkhali area of North 24 Parganas were attacked. Later the women accused Shahjahan Sheikh and his associates of torturing women. There is still unrest in the area.

Election Commission demands 920 company Central Force
Before this, the Election Commission had given a letter to the Union Home Ministry. In this letter, a demand was made to deploy a maximum of 920 companies in West Bengal for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, while 635 companies were talked about being deployed in Jammu and Kashmir. The Election Commission has decided to deploy a maximum of 3,400 companies of CAPFs in all states and union territories in a phased manner to ensure free, fair and peaceful elections.

A CAPF company consists of about 100 soldiers and employees. The Election Commission recommended deploying about 920 CAPF companies in West Bengal in a phased manner. The CAPF includes the Border Security Force (BSF), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and National Security Guard (NSG).
