Pakistan Heavy Rainfall :Due to heavy rains in Pakistan, many houses collapsed and at least 29 people lost their lives due to landslides. Local officials confirmed this on Sunday (March 3, 2024) and said that at least 29 people died and 50 others were injured due to heavy rains across the country in the last 48 hours.

According to the English newspaper Hindustan Times, the statement of the Provincial Disaster Management Authority said that since Thursday night, about 23 people died due to rain in various areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province bordering Afghanistan. Five people died in floods in the coastal city of Gwadar in south-western Balochistan province and flood protection teams used boats to rescue people.

According to the National Disaster Management Authority, casualties and damage have also been reported in Pakistan-administered Kashmir. Emergency relief is being provided to people in the affected areas and heavy machinery is being used to remove debris blocking highways.

 

Faizullah Faraq, spokesman for the Northern Gilgit Baltistan region, said the country’s Karakoram Highway, which connects Pakistan to China, is still blocked at some places due to landslides. Officials have advised tourists not to travel to the scenic north due to weather conditions. Many tourists were stuck there due to heavy rain last week.
