Delhi: A part of the ceiling collapsed in the early hours of Monday at Ambience Mall in Vasant Kunj, South West Delhi. The fortunate thing was that the mall was closed at the time this accident happened. According to Delhi Police, there was no casualty in this incident. Regarding this incident on the intervening night of Sunday and Monday, a mall official said that renovation work was going on in the mall. A part of the roof collapsed during construction work. Due to the collapse of part of the roof, the people present at the spot got scared and started running here and there.
According to Delhi Police, the roof of the Central Hall on the third floor of Ambience Mall on the top floor partially collapsed at around 12.45 am. Due to roof collapse, debris spread around the block. No one was injured in this incident. At present, the investigation of this matter is going on.
Video of accident goes viral
The video of collapse of part of Vasant Kunj Ambience Mall is going viral on social media. In the viral video, a large piece of concrete is seen falling along with a part of the false ceiling in the escalator and walking gallery. Mall officials said the gypsum false ceiling collapsed and the mall was closed at the time of the incident. The mall was closed due to repair work.
No casualties reported
There was no damage to any shop in this incident. On condition of anonymity, the officer said, “We are also investigating the entire matter.” Police said that soon after the collapse, security guards reached the spot and informed other officials and the police. A police officer said that work is underway to find out the circumstances under which this incident occurred. He said that if needed, a case will be registered.
