Shahjahan Sheikh: The investigation into the violence in Sandeshkhali, West Bengal is in the hands of CBI. The Central Investigation Agency has also started gradually tightening the noose on the accused Shahjahan Sheikh. In this series, CBI has now added the section of attempt to murder in the FIR registered against Shahjahan, who is suspended from Trinamool Congress (TMC). Presently Shahjahan Sheikh is in the custody of CBI, where he is being interrogated in the case related to this violence.
In fact, when Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials had gone to raid Shahjahan Sheikh’s house in January, his supporters attacked them. The officers’ vehicle was also attacked. Shahjahan Sheikh, who had eluded arrest for almost two months, was arrested on 29 February. Initially the custody of the accused was with West Bengal Police. However, after the court’s instructions he was handed over to the CBI.
CBI recorded statements of ED officers
Presently Shahjahan Sheikh is in CBI custody till March 10 in the case of assault on ED officials. In this case, CBI has recorded the statements of ED officers under CrPC 161. This includes those officers who were attacked during the raid at Shahjahan’s house. ED sources say that they are now satisfied with the investigation. CBI is now investigating other cases. Soon the PDS scam and Sheikh Shahjahan’s land scam case will be exposed.
Forensic expert collected evidence from Shahjahan’s house
CBI is currently investigating the entire criminal history of Shahjahan Sheikh. Whereas ED is working on the financial chain in this entire matter. The CBI team also went to Shahjahan Sheikh’s house with a team of forensic experts. The team has collected many documents and evidence. CBI has also added the section of attempt to murder i.e. IPC 307 in the FIR. In this way, CBI is gradually tightening its grip on Shahjahan.
