After this the government sent its file to LG Vinay Kumar Saxena. After waiting for about a month, this policy of Kejriwal has got approval from LG. After which this policy has now been implemented.
Earlier, while releasing the new Solar Energy Policy 2024 of Delhi Government, CM Kejriwal had said that under this policy, those who will install solar panels on their rooftops, their electricity bill will be zero. Along with this, beneficiaries can also earn up to Rs 700 every month.
There will be reduction in electricity bill
To provide relief to the people of Delhi from the problem of power shortage and to get rid of high electricity bills, Kejriwal government has taken a revolutionary step in the field of energy. People will get a lot of benefits from this and they will also save money. Under this, grid-connected rooftop solar plants will be installed on 645 buildings larger than 500 square meters of Delhi Government and MCD. These include educational institutions, health institutions, DTC depots, DTL substations and other buildings. On which rooftop solar plants will be installed. The total capacity of all these plants will be 50 MW.
CM Kejriwal had announced
CM Kejriwal had announced this in January. During this he had said that earlier the government had implemented solar policy in 2016. Which was considered quite good. In 2016, 250 MW capacity was installed on rooftops and 1250 MW was purchased from outside by the discom. This reduces pollution. Kejriwal had also said that after the implementation of the new policy, the electricity bill of all those who install solar panels on their homes will become zero. On top of that, they will also be able to earn additional Rs 700 every month.
Let us tell you that with the aim of promoting green energy production, the Delhi Solar Policy was passed by the Cabinet on January 29 last year. The Delhi government has set a target to generate 25% of the city’s electricity through solar power plants by 2027.
