According to the news of government news agency ‘IRNA’, 10 other members of the security forces have been injured. The nighttime fighting in Sistan and Baluchistan province began when gunmen opened fire on a Revolutionary Guard post in the city of Rusk and a coast guard station in the city of Chahbahar, the report said.

Attackers trying to take people hostage
IRNA said six attackers were surrounded. The attackers were planning to take people hostage at two places. At this time, no details have been released about the hostages. The attack has been blamed on the terrorist organization Jaish al-Adl. The organization reportedly wants more rights for the ethnic Baloch minority.

clashes occur frequently
The region of Sistan and Baluchistan province borders Afghanistan and Pakistan. There are sometimes deadly clashes between terrorist organizations, armed drug traffickers and Iranian security forces. In December, terrorists attacked a police station in the province and killed about a dozen police officers. The region is one of the least developed parts of Iran. Relations between the region’s predominantly Sunni Muslim residents and Iran’s Shia-led government have long been tense.
