Arvind Kejriwal: Delhi High Court’s decision is expected on Tuesday (April 9) on the petition of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in the Delhi Excise Policy case. Justice Swarnakanta Sharma will give her verdict at 2:30 pm. Meanwhile, the discussion is whether Delhi CM will get relief from the court today or he will have to remain in jail.
In fact, after hearing the petition of Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal last week, the High Court had reserved its decision. During the debate in Delhi High Court, CM Arvind Kejriwal’s advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi had termed his arrest as ‘scripted’. He had also raised questions on the timing of ED’s arrest. He had said that the arrest by ED is wrong.
On the other hand, a decision is also likely to be taken today on CM Arvind Kejriwal’s petition seeking additional time to meet lawyers in Delhi Rouse Avenue Court.
CM is currently in judicial custody
CM Arvind Kejriwal was arrested by ED on 21 March 2024 in the Delhi Excise Policy case. ED had presented him in Rouse Avenue Court on March 22. Rouse Avenue Court had sent him to ED custody. After hearing the bail plea of Delhi CM for the third time, the court sent him to judicial custody. Delhi CM is in judicial custody till 15 April.
CM Arvind Kejriwal had filed petitions in Delhi High Court and Supreme Court to get bail, but he was disappointed from both the places. Delhi High Court had reserved the decision after hearing the petition filed against the ED’s arrest last week demanding grant of bail. Today the High Court’s decision on the same issue is likely to come.
