CBI has filed a charge sheet against Huirem Herodas Meiti and five others in the case of parading two women of Kuki-Zomi community naked in Manipur. The agency has also filed a report against a teenager. The state police had arrested Herodas in July last year. There have been shocking revelations in the CBI charge sheet. It has been told in the charge sheet that the police themselves had handed over the women to the mob.
According to the CBI charge sheet, during the caste violence in the state, both the women had sought shelter in a parked police vehicle and a young man was also sitting in the car with them. The women had said that the vehicle should be taken to a safe place. On this the policemen said that they did not have the keys of the car. After this, the policemen took both the women in the car and took them in front of the crowd.
The mob beat two people to death in no time.
According to the charge sheet, the mob tore the clothes of both the women and paraded them naked. After this there was gang rape. Not only this, the mob also tried to target the third woman of the same family and wanted to strip her in a similar manner, but she held her granddaughter tightly. During this time, when the crowd moved towards the naked women, she got a chance to escape.
Officials say that the bloodthirsty mob first killed the father of the man who was sitting with the women in the police car. After this, they took the young man out of the police car and beat him to death. The bodies of both were thrown into the dry land. After killing the young man, the women were pulled from the car and disgusting acts were done to them.
The video went viral in July last year
Giving information about the charge sheet, officials say that among the women who were attacked, one of the victims was the wife of a soldier involved in the Kargil war. Last year, a mob carried out this incident in Manipur on May 4, but the video went viral after two months in July. The incident shook everyone. In the case, CBI had filed a charge sheet against six accused in the court on October 16 last year.
