In the Delhi liquor scam case, CM Arvind Kejriwal has received a big setback from the Rouse Avenue Court. The court has rejected the interim bail plea of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. Kejriwal had sought interim bail for seven days citing his health. The court rejected this plea and said that the jail administration should conduct tests related to Kejriwal’s illness. No one will be granted bail in this manner.
Opposing Kejriwal’s interim bail, the ED had said that Kejriwal was misleading the court. The ED alleged that Kejriwal, who was continuously campaigning for the elections, became ill when the time came to surrender.
Interim bail was granted for election campaigning
Let us tell you that Arvind Kejriwal was granted interim bail by the Supreme Court on May 10 for campaigning in the Lok Sabha elections and after that he was released from Tihar Jail till June 1. His release period was ending after the last phase of voting on June 1 and he had to surrender once again on June 2. Earlier, he had approached the Supreme Court seeking extension of his interim bail for seven days.
The Supreme Court registry had refused to list his bail plea urgently on May 29. In this petition, Kejriwal had cited health reasons and pleaded that he needed time to undergo medical examination as he was losing weight and his ketone level had increased. After the refusal of the court registry, Kejriwal had approached the special CBI-ED court seeking interim bail.
