Red alert issued for heat wave in Delhi, no relief from heat expected in the capital

There is severe heat in the country’s capital Delhi and the Meteorological Department has issued a red alert regarding heat wave. The Meteorological Department had already issued an orange alert, but now the situation has worsened and a red alert has been issued. There is no possibility of relief from the scorching heat in Delhi till Wednesday. However, the temperature will drop due to the storm on Thursday. After this, pre-monsoon rain can give relief.

The maximum temperature in Delhi on Sunday was recorded at 44.9 degrees Celsius, six degrees above normal. The minimum temperature was recorded at 33.2 degrees Celsius, which is 5.7 degrees above the average of this season. The Meteorological Department has predicted clear skies, hot winds, severe heat, heat at night and strong winds on Monday.

Temperature above 40 for 35 days
The intervening night of Sunday-Monday was the third night in Delhi, which was extremely hot. At the same time, heat wave blew in the city for the eighth consecutive day. For the 35th consecutive day, the maximum temperature of the city remained above 40 degrees. The Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for Monday and warned that there is a high possibility of getting sick if you walk in the sun during the afternoon. In these conditions, it is very important to stay indoors and keep drinking water continuously.

Monsoon is not progressing
The Meteorological Department has said that the monsoon has not progressed since June 11. Due to this, it is very hot in the central and northern areas of the country. Strong winds are blowing in Delhi, but there is no moisture in them and it is very hot. There are also light clouds over the city, which keep the heat under control. This is increasing the temperature of the city further. Usually the monsoon reaches Delhi between 27-30 June and this time too the monsoon is expected to reach Delhi by this time. However, before that, due to western disturbance, rain is expected on 19-20 June.
