Delhi: A child died after a part of the roof of an old building collapsed in Pratap Nagar, Delhi. At the time of the accident, the 6-year-old child was playing on the roof and suddenly fell victim to the accident due to the roof collapse.
The child was rushed to GTB Hospital, where doctors declared him dead after medical examination. The deceased child’s father Santosh is a laborer in a factory. The victim’s family has been living on rent in this building for the last 6 months.
Neighbors made serious allegations
The landlord lives on the ground floor of the same building, the police have registered a case against him and started investigation. After this incident, there is mourning in the victim’s family. Neighbors have accused the landlord of earning money through rent and not getting the building repaired.
The child’s father Santosh says that he pays Rs 2500 as rent for this house, he was his only child. At the time of the accident, he was on duty and only the child and his mother were at home. He got information about this after calling the neighbors.
The child’s mother is crying badly after this accident. There is mourning in the entire locality. The child’s mother sitting on the spot faints again and again. The victim’s mother is crying remembering her child, the neighbors present on the spot are consoling the victim’s mother and making many serious allegations against the landlord.
Landlord absconding
Regarding this accident, the landlady Mamta told that the child was hanging on the balcony and calling everyone, due to which he also fell down along with the balcony. The landlady told that she was not at home at the time of the accident. The landlord Ram Ji Lal is said to be absconding.
What did the eyewitness say?
Seema, who lives in the same locality, says that she took the child to the hospital in a hurry, where the doctors declared him dead. She says that due to this accident, the child’s body was bleeding a lot and her clothes also got soaked in blood.
Neighbor expressed fear of another accident
Sandhya lives in the house right next to this house. Sandhya showed her roof and the wall of the collapsed house and said that the bricks and iron parts of the balcony have fallen on our roof. She said that everyone in the house owner Ramji Lal’s family earns, but despite our repeated requests, these people did not get the repairs done.
Sandhya, who lives in the neighbourhood, said that the balcony was weak and hence fell and the child died. She expressed apprehension that if the wall falls now, we may also face problems. According to Sandhya, due to greed for money, he is not getting the house repaired and the number of tenants is continuously increasing.
