Not only for the post of PM, many Indian-origin candidates are also trying their luck among MP candidates. About 2.5 percent of people of Indian origin live in Britain, Indians living in Britain are in a very good position in terms of economic and education.
According to the data, Indian families are at the forefront of high-level income families and contribute 6 percent to Britain’s GDP. This economic strength is enough to influence the country’s politics.

Mainly two parties are in the fray in this election, Conservatives led by Rishi Sunak and Labor Party led by Keir Starmer. 650 seats, voting in a single phase… Rishi Sunak’s credibility at stake, know everything about UK elections
The counting down for the general elections in Britain has started. Voting is to be held on July 4 for this election, which is being held after 5 years. Rishi Sunak is in front of the public as Prime Minister for the first time, he was made Prime Minister in 2022 after the resignation of Conservative Party PM Boris Johnson. In this election, everyone’s eyes are on the voters of Indian origin, because Rishi Sunak himself is also of Indian origin and this time 106 MP candidates of Indian origin are contesting the elections. A survey has claimed that 65 percent of Indian-origin voters are against Sunak.
Almost all the surveys conducted before this election have shown the Conservative Party losing. It is estimated that after 14 years, the left-leaning Labor Party is going to return to power again. The Center Right Conservative Party captured power in Britain in 2010. At that time, Britain was facing recession and there was a lot of anger among the public against the then Prime Minister Gordon Brown over Britain’s role in the Iraq Afghanistan war.
The reason for the public’s anger against Rishi Sunak is believed to be rising inflation. Britain’s economy is going through a period of decline and taxes have increased. Also, Sunak has complicated the visa and immigration rules, due to which the Indian community and people of Asia are also standing against him.
There are about 25 lakh Indian voters in Britain. After sensing the anger, Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and his wife reached the BPS Swaminarayan temple in London just before the elections. After the darshan, he mentioned India’s victory in the T20 World Cup and also said, “I am a Hindu like all of you and my religion inspires me.”
Who is in front of Rishi Sunak?
The opposition Labour Party is led by Keir Starmer. 61-year-old Keir Starmer is a lawyer by profession and a former prosecutor of England and Wales. After the support he is getting from the public during the election campaign, he considers his victory certain.

At the same time, the Labour Party has been given 403 seats in the opinion poll. There are a total of 650 seats in Britain and any party needs more than 325 seats to come to power.
How are elections held in Britain?
The British Parliament has two houses, one is the House of Lords and the other is the House of Commons. The House of Lords has nothing to do with the general elections. Voters in 650 constituencies of the country elect their representative i.e. MP for the House of Commons. These representatives together elect the Prime Minister of the country and then the Prime Minister selects the ministers and forms the government.
Just as in India, the Prime Minister is elected according to the MPs of the Lok Sabha, the same happens in Britain. In India, Rajya Sabha is the upper house, in Britain the House of Lords is the upper house.
