There is good news for the people of Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh. Metro services will soon be expanded to 23 km in this city. Right now metro service is available only on a 9 km track. However, now under the expansion plan, the work of laying 14 km new track has been completed and the first trial is to be conducted on this track on July 10. If there are no major obstacles in this trial, then the metro will start running on this track by March 2025. After this, the journey from IIT to Nayaganj will become easier for the people of Kanpur.
According to the Metro management, at present metro service is available on a total track of 9 km from IIT to Motijheel in the city. For the journey beyond this, people have to face trouble in auto rickshaws or buses. According to Metro officials, the work of 23 km long corridor has now been completed in this project. Tracks have been laid in this corridor. The remaining work will also be completed by March 2025. After this, people will be able to travel from Motijheel to Nayaganj by metro.

This project is of 23 km, although at that time the metro was run only for 9 km from IIT to Motijheel. Now the work of laying the track in the remaining 14 km part of the corridor has also been completed. For this, the remaining work is being completed rapidly.
First trial on July 10
The target is to start it by March 2025 at any cost. According to the officials, with the completion of the track work, the date of its first trial has been fixed on July 10. According to the metro officials, the work of laying the track has been done with utmost caution. Therefore, the possibility of any major obstacle during the trial is negligible. Despite this, if any obstacle arises, then an extra effort will be made to find a solution in a timely manner.
Relief from traffic jam
With the completion of this project, Kanpur residents are expected to get great relief. People struggling with transport problems have to face a lot of difficulties to go from one place to another within the city. First there is a push in auto, bus or rickshaw and after this the biggest problem comes in the form of traffic jam. However, this project is expected to provide relief from both these problems to a great extent.
