Incidents of cheating and paper leak and fake candidates in examinations have now become common. The latest case is from Bihar where 12 people have been arrested on Sunday for appearing in the Central Teacher Eligibility Test i.e. CTET-2024 in Darbhanga and appearing in the examination in place of other candidates at various examination centers. The special thing is that 2 women are also included among those arrested.
Darbhanga SSP Jagunath Reddy said that 9 people have been arrested from different examination centers in Laheriyasarai police station area, while two have been caught from a center under Sadar police station while one person has been arrested from a center under Bahadurpur police station. At the same time, he told that this fraud was detected through biometric fingerprint scan of the candidates at the examination centers.
Police engaged in questioning the accused
In fact, during the examination, when the center superintendent put his thumb in the biometric machine, it did not match. Despite this, the accused kept putting their thumb in the biometric, claiming themselves to be the right candidate. When the centre superintendents questioned them strictly, all of them confessed to the fraud. The police took action on the basis of complaints lodged by supervisors and administrators and have started investigation by registering a case against the fraudsters. At present, the arrested people are being questioned and information is also being gathered about other candidates.
A deal was struck for Rs 50,000 each
It is being told that these people had struck a deal for Rs 50,000 each to appear in the exam as fake students in place of other candidates. After which these people came to appear in the exam as fake students. Sources say that the police is also investigating whether the arrested people are associated with any interstate fraud syndicate.
