Former Uttar Pradesh (UP) CM Mayawati’s Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) did not get a single seat in the Lok Sabha elections 2024. The party’s vote share is also falling continuously. In such a situation, BSP has started preparing afresh keeping in mind the upcoming elections (assembly elections of different states and assembly by-elections on 10 seats in UP). Let us know what important step BSP has taken now:
The results of the Lok Sabha elections 2024 have opened the eyes of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief and former Uttar Pradesh (UP) Chief Minister Mayawati.
The BSP, which could not even open its account (in terms of seats) in the general elections, recently came to know that its core Dalit vote is going to other parties.
Seeing the loss of Dalit vote bank, BSP has taken an important step to stop this, under which the party’s membership fee has been reduced by Rs 150.
The membership fee to join BSP used to be Rs 200. However, after the latest move of the party, only 50 rupees will have to be paid to join it.
BSP sources told English newspaper ‘The Indian Express’ that this decision has been taken by BSP to regain electoral support.
Not only this, membership fees have also been reduced for people belonging to economically weaker sections and coming from rural areas.
This step of increasing party members by reducing BSP’s membership fees has been taken when assembly elections are to be held in different states after some time.
