Shimla: Former independent MLA of Himachal Pradesh and Bharatiya Janata Party candidate in Dehra assembly by-election, Hoshiar Singh has made serious allegations against the Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu government of the state. The BJP candidate says that the police in plain clothes have been chasing him in a car for the last 3 days. Meanwhile, a video of 2 minutes 17 seconds has gone viral in which 5 people in a car have been caught by Singh’s security personnel. In the video, the BJP candidate is saying, ‘Police in plain clothes have been chasing me for the last 3 days and my life is in danger, this is the Sukhu government.’
Hoshiar Singh vs Kamlesh Thakur in Dehra
Two-time independent MLA Hoshiar Singh from Dehra seat is contesting this time against Congress candidate and Chief Minister Sukhu’s wife Kamlesh Thakur. Voting is today on Wednesday for 3 seats of Dehra, Hamirpur and Nalagarh in Himachal Pradesh. These seats fell vacant after three independent MLAs Hoshiar Singh (Dehra), Ashish Sharma (Hamirpur) and KL Thakur (Nalagarh) resigned from the House on March 22. These MLAs voted in favour of the BJP in the Rajya Sabha elections held on February 27 and joined the ruling party at the Center the next day.
‘If someone follows me, I will shoot’
Hoshiar Singh said, ‘I have got security from the Home Ministry and if anyone follows me, I will shoot.’ Leader of Opposition in the state assembly Jai Ram Thakur and BJP state media in-charge Karan Nanda accused Chief Minister Sukhu of misusing the government machinery in the by-election and said that the Congress has already accepted its defeat by spying on the BJP candidate. Reacting to the viral video, the Congress released a video of its MLA Sudarshan Bablu, in which he termed it a ‘political gimmick’ to woo voters on the last day.
