Jharkhand Assembly Election 2024: Assembly elections are to be held in Jharkhand by the end of this year. Meanwhile, a six-member team of the Election Commission (ECI) led by Senior Deputy Election Commissioners Nitesh Vyas and Dharmendra Sharma reached Ranchi on Wednesday (July 10) to review the revision of voter lists going on in Jharkhand. It is being told that now the Jharkhand assembly election programs can be announced at any time.
A team of ECI was welcomed at Birsa Munda Airport in Ranchi by Chief Electoral Officer K. Ravi Kumar, SPNO Amol V. Homkar, Additional Chief Electoral Officer Neha Arora along with senior officials of Ranchi district.
Review meeting of election preparations today
Actually, assembly elections are to be held in Jharkhand later this year. Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) K Ravi Kumar said, “There is a meeting in the CEO office today. The Election Commission team will review the second special revision (campaign) of the voter list with the District Election Officers on Thursday. Voter list will be released on August 20 The second revision of voter lists in Jharkhand started on June 25 and will end on July 24. The draft voter list will be published on July 25 and voters can make claims and objections till August 9. An election officer of the Jharkhand Election Commission said that the voter list will be published on August 20. Let us tell you that in the year 2019, the Jharkhand Assembly elections were held in five phases. The Chief Election Officer has proposed to conduct elections in two or three phases this time. According to the Chief Election Officer, the Election Commission has to take a final decision on this. There are a total of 82 seats in the Jharkhand Assembly. JMM has 27, Congress has 18, CPI-ML has one, RJD has one, BJP has 24, AJSU has three, RCP (UP) has one, independents have two.
