Bengaluru: Karnataka Maharishi Valmiki Scheduled Tribe Development Corporation Limited (KMVASTDC) chairman Basanagouda Daddal is reportedly missing. The ED was preparing to detain him in connection with irregularities in the board. Sources said on Saturday that Congress MLA in Karnataka Basanagouda Daddal was not found at his residence in Bengaluru or his native place Raichur. Basanagouda Daddal appeared before the Special Investigation Team (SIT) on Friday and his whereabouts after that are not known.
ED had gathered enough evidence
Sources alleged that Daddal had appeared before the SIT on his own will to avoid ED arrest. However, SIT officials reportedly explained to him that the ED could detain him anytime and sent him back. According to sources, the ED has gathered enough evidence regarding Daddal investing the money allegedly embezzled from the tribal board in real estate. The ED has also detected large amounts of money transferred to the accounts of his family members through NEFT, RTGS and UPI transactions.
Plot was also bought in the name of son
Daddal has allegedly bought large plots of land on the outskirts of Raichur near Bharatmala National Highway. He also bought 4.31 acres of land in the name of his son on May 22 this year. Chandrasekaran, superintendent of Karnataka Maharishi Valmiki Scheduled Tribe Development Corporation Limited, committed suicide on May 26. In the same case, the ED arrested former state minister and Congress leader B Nagendra on Friday. Sources said that the ED may arrest Daddal and also issue notice to his son in connection with the property.
