After the martyrdom of Captain Anshuman Singh, a controversy has arisen regarding NOK (Next TO Kin). Under NOK, if a soldier is martyred and he is not married, then the parents have the right to the amount given by the government, but when the soldier gets married, then this entire amount is given to his wife.
After which now the parents of martyr Anshuman are demanding a change in NOK, they say that the Kirti Chakra that Captain Anshuman got has also been taken away by his wife Smriti Singh and the amount will also be given to her, then what memento of the martyred son is left with the parents. After which the CM of Madhya Pradesh has said a big thing on NOK.
Madhya Pradesh CM made the announcement
Madhya Pradesh CM Mohan Yadav made a big announcement in a program of the state police amid the ongoing dispute over the distribution of the amount given to the families of the martyrs. He said, out of the amount of Rs 1 crore given to any soldier of the state on martyrdom, 50 percent will be given to the wife and 50 percent to the parents.
What is NOK?
NOK can also be called legal heir. This means that if anything happens to any soldier who joins the army, the amount will be given to his NOK only. When a soldier is about to be recruited in the army, the name of his parents is registered in this NOK, but after marriage, the name of his wife or husband is registered and the ex-gratia amount is given to them.
