A major accident occurred due to fire in a flat in Kuwait City. An Indian couple and their two children died in this fire. Officials informed on Saturday that this accident happened on Friday night. This family had returned from Kerala after a holiday on the same day.
According to media reports, Mathews Mulakkal, his wife Lini Abraham and their two children were in their second floor flat in Abbasiya area on Friday night. They died due to suffocation in a fire caused by a short circuit in the air conditioner around 8 pm. All these people were residents of Neerattupuram in Alappuzha.
The family had returned after a holiday in Kerala
It is being told that this family had returned to Kuwait at 4 pm on Friday evening after a holiday in Kerala. Mathews Mulakkal worked in Reuters, while his wife Lini was a staff nurse in Aden Hospital of Al Ahmadi Governorate. Their children studied in Bhavans School in Kuwait. A relative told in Kerala on Saturday that Mathews had been working there for the last 15 years. The family left from Nedumbassery airport on Thursday night after a holiday.
Indian Embassy in touch with family
Meanwhile, the Indian Embassy in Kuwait said in a post on X that the embassy expresses its deepest condolences on the tragic death of Mathews Mulakkal, his wife and 2 children due to a fire in a flat in Abasiya. The embassy is in touch with his family and will ensure the repatriation of the bodies at the earliest.
Fire in the building brought under control
According to the report, Major General Khalid Fahad, acting chief of the General Fire Force, was present at the spot and quoted the General Fire Force on his X as saying that his teams had successfully brought the fire in the apartment building under control.
