West Bengal: Remembering the violence that took place 31 years ago, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee organized Martyr’s Day on July 21, during which she attacked CPIM.

21st July is going to be a very important day for Bengal because Trinamool Congress is going to celebrate this day as Martyr’s Day. Talking about this day, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has targeted the Communist Party of India (CPIM). Apart from this, she has called this day an emotional milestone for the party.

Recalling the day of 21st July 1993, 31 years ago, Mamata Banerjee has posted on her social media handle X, in which she attacked the CPI(M) and said that 31 years ago on this day I lost my comrades in the fight against oppression, this oppressive regime took the lives of those 13 innocent people. Describing this day as important, she has said that 21st July is a day full of blood in the history of Bengal. Tomorrow again 21st July is coming, which is a part of the folk culture of Bengal which can never be separated.

What happened 31 years ago, in which 13 people died

On 21 July 1993, a rally of West Bengal Youth Congress was organized under the leadership of Mamata Banerjee, in which the demand was being made to make voter ID card the only necessary document for voting. During this rally, West Bengal Police in Kolkata started firing on the rally, in which 13 people died, which will be celebrated as its annual ‘Shaheed Diwas’ program in Kolkata.

It will be celebrated as ‘Maa-Mati-Manush Diwas’

Mamata posted on X and remembered the people killed during the rally and wrote that every year on this historic day we remember those brave martyrs with love and respect, along with them we also remember all those who have sacrificed their lives in movements for our country and fellow humans. Also, we celebrate this day as ‘Maa-Mati-Manush Diwas’, and dedicate our democratic electoral victory to the people of West Bengal. This day has another lasting significance. Mamata has also invited the people of Bengal to this program being held on 21 July. She has said that I invite all the people of Bengal.

Like every year, this year too, I am confident that our gathering will be meaningful with your enthusiastic participation in paying collective tribute to the martyrs. She also wrote a poem of her own in this post, in which she wrote that “21 July is soaked in blood and tears, lots of tribute in the memory of the martyrs.”
