Pune: Pune Magistrate A.C. Birajdar has issued a non-bailable arrest warrant (NBW) against Manoj Jarange-Patil, leader of the Shiv Sena organisation leading the Maratha reservation movement, in an 11-year-old fraud case. Kothrud police station officials have given this information. This is the second non-bailable warrant issued against Patil in recent days.\
Accused the government of putting him in jail
This is related to the violation of the agreement made with a drama producer in 2013. The warrant was issued on Tuesday against Jarange-Patil and his two associates Datta Bahir and Arjun Jadhav. Reacting sharply to this, Jarange-Patil on Wednesday alleged that this is a conspiracy by the government to put him behind bars and kill him in jail.
Jarange made this appeal to supporters
He called upon his supporters that if he is sent to jail, they should make every effort to defeat the candidates of the ruling party and opposition party on all seats during the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly elections. In the latest case, his lawyer Harshad Nimbalkar said he urged the court not to issue a warrant as he is busy with the Maratha agitation and has been on a hunger strike since July 20. He assured the court that Jarange-Patil will appear for the next hearing on August 2.

Dhananjay Ghorpade, a Pune-based drama producer, claimed that in 2013 Jarange-Patil and other accused hired him to conduct several shows of their stage play “Shambhuraje” in Jalna. At least five shows were held and rehearsals for another show were also held, but the accused later allegedly backed out. As per the agreement, Rs 30 lakh was to be paid in this regard, which was not done. When his pleas were not heeded, Ghorpade filed a complaint in the court and at least four summons were issued, which Jarange-Patil ignored.
Warrant was issued earlier too
Earlier too, the court had issued a non-bailable warrant against Jarange-Patil, but he appeared in the court, paid a fine of Rs 500 and agreed to appear at the next hearing. Meanwhile, dismissing the apprehensions and allegations of Jarange-Patil, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said that the government has nothing to do with his case. Another BJP leader Pravin Darkekar said that the Maratha leader wants to go to jail to get publicity and sympathy.
