Here the family was unable to take the woman suffering from labor pain to the hospital due to heavy rains.

In such a situation, the doctors helped the midwife to deliver the baby through video call and ensured safe delivery of the woman. During this, the woman gave birth to twins. According to the information, there was a flood-like situation in Jorawari village on Monday when a woman named Raveena Uikey had labor pain. Her family decided to take her to the district hospital but could not do so due to waterlogging on the road.

After getting information about Uike’s condition, a team of health officials along with District Health Officer Dr Manisha Sirsam was sent to the village but all the routes were submerged. When it seemed that it was impossible for the team to reach the village under any circumstances, Dr Sirsam called Uike’s husband and asked him to call a trained midwife from the village to their house.

Gave birth to twins

Sirsam then asked midwife Reshma Vanskar to follow the instructions given over the phone so that the high-risk woman could be delivered. The midwife followed the instructions diligently and ensured the safe birth of the twins. After the water level receded and the roads became suitable for vehicular movement, the woman and her newborn twins were admitted to the district hospital through a 108 vehicle.

The health officer said that the mother and the twins are healthy. The official quipped that unlike the engineering students who deliver babies using vacuum cleaners in 3 Idiots, the situation in Seoni was a bit more real.
