Another interim government formed under the leadership of Mohammad Yunus, when did it start in Bangladesh

After about 4 days of instability in Bangladesh, the interim government came into existence on Thursday. The interim government led by Nobel laureate Mohammad Yunus took oath on Thursday night at the President’s official residence Bangabhaban. The interim government was formed on August 5, 3 days after Sheikh Hasina resigned from the post of PM and fled the country to India. Hasina remained in power for 15 years.

Bangladesh is once again dependent on the interim government. Now it is expected that this government led by Yunus will soon normalize life in this neighboring country of India and will be successful in restoring stability there.

When was the interim government formed for the first time

If we look at the history of the interim government in the country, this is not the first time that a caretaker or interim government has been formed in Bangladesh. It has a long history. The first interim government came into existence here 33 years ago in 1991. In Bangladesh, the chief advisor or head of the interim or caretaker government gets the status of the Prime Minister. While the member of the Advisory Council is given the status of a minister.

It is about 1991. When the government of the then military dictator Hussain Muhammad Ershad collapsed due to public uprising. Amidst the ongoing political instability in the country, the first caretaker government was formed under the leadership of Justice Shahabuddin Ahmed. Five years later, in 1996, a caretaker government was formed. Then the caretaker government was formed with Justice Muhammad Habibur Rahman as the Chief Adviser.

Sheikh Hasina had then led the movement

Although the purpose of the first interim government formed in 1991 was to end authoritarianism and restore democracy, but this system was adopted by the sixth parliament in 1996 as the 13th amendment to the Constitution. Only then could this system be restored. The special thing is that Sheikh Hasina was leading this movement then. It was included in the constitution after the fierce movement led by Awami League under his leadership.

The caretaker government was formed for the third time in Bangladesh in the year 2001. Then Justice Latifur Rahman became the head of the caretaker government. After this, a caretaker government was also formed in 2006. The then President Iajuddin Ahmed also served as the Chief Advisor of the caretaker government from the end of October 2006 to 11 January 2007.

Before Yunus, an economist was given the command in 2007

So far, the previous 4 caretaker governments were led by some justice or the other. But now for the first time, the leadership of the caretaker government was handed over to an economist. Former central bank governor and famous economist Fakhruddin took charge as the head of the caretaker government on 12 January 2007 in a state of emergency amid political instability in the country.

However, in 2011, Sheikh Hasina’s government had abolished the caretaker government system. But the wheel of time has taken such a turn that now after the coup of her own government, a caretaker or interim government has been formed again in the country. Now it remains to be seen how successful the new interim government led by Mohammad Yunus, the country’s second economist, is in its aim. When will the country scorched in the fire of violence be able to breathe in peace again.

Mohammad Yunus took oath as the PM of Bangladesh, on the other hand, a letter from more than 50 people reached him from Bengal.

After the war in Bangladesh, there was turmoil everywhere in the country, after which an interim government has been formed in the country, which was headed by Nobel Prize winner Mohammad Yunus, he took oath as the Prime Minister on Thursday. The swearing-in ceremony was held at the President’s official residence in the capital Dhaka. Along with PM Yunus, 16 other colleagues also took oath, which included 2 women and 2 Hindus.

As soon as Mohammad Yunus took oath as the Prime Minister, something happened which he would not have even thought of, on the other hand, he took the throne of the Prime Minister, on the other hand, more than 50 letters came to him from West Bengal. More than 50 people from West Bengal wrote letters to Bangladesh President Mohammad Shahabuddin and PM Mohammad Yunus and appealed to them to ensure the safety of all sections of the society.

What was said in the letter

Actually, the situation in the country had worsened due to the agitation in the past few days, during which the houses of Hindu people were also broken, looted and set on fire. Many police stations in the country were set on fire and the system had completely collapsed, due to which it was said in the letter, although the people of Bangladesh will decide what kind of political and administrative leadership will come in the country, but we appeal to the administration and the common people of Bangladesh, especially the students, who have brought this change through the anti-reservation and anti-discrimination movement, to ensure the safety of every Bangladeshi citizen, whatever his religion, political affiliation and profession.

Concern expressed on attacks on minorities

The letter further said, we are very concerned about the situation in Bangladesh and what happened. Bangladesh is not just a neighboring country in terms of place for the people of West Bengal, but is also a neighbor by heart, because our language, culture and history are the same. Filmmakers Aparna Sen, Pavitra Sarkar and former Supreme Court judge Ashok Ganguly are among those who signed the letter. In the letter, they have expressed concern over the attacks on minorities in Bangladesh and also praised the incidents of one community protecting the places of worship of another community.

These well-known personalities said that they have written this letter because there is turmoil in the country and many of them are receiving calls from Bangladeshi people from all over the world about the deteriorating situation. However, a copy of this letter has also been sent to the Deputy High Commission of Bangladesh in Kolkata.
