Martyr Army Jawan Pension: Who should get pension in the family of soldiers who died in the army of the country? The Central Government has answered this question of Congress MP Imran Masood in Parliament on Friday, 9 August. The government said that it is considering that the pension should be divided between the wife and parents of the martyr.
Minister of State for Defense Sanjay Seth said in a written reply in the Lok Sabha that a proposal has been received to divide the family pension between the parents and wife, which is being considered.
The army has sent the proposal
The Defense Minister said that it has come to know that the army has also sent a proposal to the Ministry of Defense on this subject. He told that the parents of the martyred soldiers have demanded amendment in the law for financial help.
Let us tell you that according to the rules, the amount of gratuity, provident fund, insurance and ex gratia is given according to the nomination or will of the martyred soldier. But in case of being married, the pension amount is given to the wife of the martyr and the pension amount is given to the parents of the unmarried martyr.
Why did this issue arise?
The issue of who should get the right to pension among the wife or parents of the martyred soldiers is still under discussion. In the recent past, complaints have come from the families of many martyred soldiers that after the wife gets many facilities including the martyr’s pension, the parents are left without any support. Apart from this, in many cases, things like indecency with wives, complaints of being thrown out of the house or pressure of second marriage in the house have also come to the fore.
In these cases, apart from emotional support, financial support is also needed for the parents or wife who are already suffering endless pain, due to which the recent times have drawn people’s attention to this issue.
