Waqf Amendment Bill: The central government on Thursday (August 8, 2024) introduced a bill in Parliament to amend the Waqf Act 1995, which was opposed by the opposition unitedly. Meanwhile, AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi, while talking to ABP News, accused the central government of destroying the Waqf Board.
The Hyderabad MP said, “This is not the Waqf Board, NRC is being done for Waqf property. The government is cheating by saying that the property in the Waqf Board is not public property, but private property. Muslims earned their hard work and made it Waqf and now the government is saying that we will take it. Waqf is one of the religious traditions among Muslims. The government wants to take over the Waqf through Collector Raj.” He asked whether any collector will give orders against the government. ”
Asaduddin Owaisi said, “The central government is saying that from now on Waqf by user will be abolished and you will have to show the document. A mosque, Idgah and graveyard has been in use for 300 years and now it will be said that it will become the property of the government. In such a situation, the day the government wants, the Waqf by user will be removed.” He raised the question and said that when it will be declared the property of the government, we will expect that the collector will give orders against the government.
