Punjab: Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari has written a letter to Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann on the issue of law and order. He has raised the issue of safety of NHAI officials, contractors and their staff. Now Punjab IGP Sukhchain Singh Gill has responded to this. He said that we have formed an SIT on this and an FIR has been registered.
According to news agency ANI, Nitin Gadkari wrote in his letter, ‘NHAI officials and contractors are getting harassed in Punjab. Projects worth Rs 3263 crore of 103 KM have been stopped in Punjab.’ Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari had earlier also held a meeting with the PWD Minister of Punjab.
Punjab IGP gave this information
Punjab IGP Sukhchain Singh Gill told the media in this regard, “The CM is reviewing it. We have formed an SIT and registered an FIR. The law and order situation is under control. There have been two such incidents and we will look for security if needed by NHAI.”
Engineer beaten up badly
Nitin Gadkari wrote in his letter that an engineer of a contractor was beaten up badly in Jalandhar. FIR has been registered but strict action is needed in the case. At the same time, the contractor’s project camp was attacked in Ludhiana. The engineer was threatened that the project camp and his staff would be burnt alive.
Gadkari made this appeal to the state government
Nitin Gadkari appealed to the state government to take immediate action in this matter. FIRs should be registered and action should be taken against the attackers so that such incidents do not happen again and faith in the rights of NHAI can be restored. Nitin Gadkari has also attached the photo of the engineer injured in the attack with the letter in which it can be seen that both the eyes of the engineer are swollen and there are injury marks on many places on the body.
