Earthquake: Strong earthquake tremors in southern Xinjiang province of China, intensity 7.2 on Richter scale, impact of earthquake in Delhi-NCR in India as well as in other parts of the country.

China was once again shaken by strong earthquakes. Strong earthquake tremors were felt in the southern Xinjiang province here. According to China’s government news agency, there were two earthquakes around late night local time. This earthquake occurred in Wushu County in Aksu Province of China. The intensity of the earthquake was measured at 7.2 on the Richter scale. According to the National Center for Seismology (NCS), the epicenter of the earthquake was at a depth of 80 kilometers in the southern Xinjiang region of China.

Six people were injured in this earthquake and more than 120 houses were damaged. According to a post by the government of the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, two of the injured are in serious condition and four people have suffered minor injuries. Houses have also been heavily damaged by the earthquake. In this, 47 houses have been completely demolished while 78 houses have been damaged.

Impact of earthquake in Delhi-NCR also

The impact of the earthquake in China was felt in India also. Earthquake tremors were felt here in Delhi-NCR as well as in other parts of the country. The earth continued to tremble due to the earthquake for a long time. The earthquake was so strong that despite the cold, people came out of their homes and reached open places. This is the second earthquake to hit India in 2024. Earlier on January 11, there was an earthquake in Jammu and Kashmir including Delhi-NCR. Whose center was in Faizabad, Afghanistan.

Earthquake in Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan

Along with India, the impact of the earthquake was also seen in Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan. Earthquake tremors were felt in these countries also. Russian news agency Tass reported that people in Kazakh capital Almaty came out of their homes fearing the earthquake. It is reported that many houses have been damaged on the Kyrgyzstan and Xinjiang border. Many houses were razed to the ground. Due to which some people have been seriously injured.

A 7.1 magnitude earthquake struck a remote area in China’s western Xinjiang region late Monday night, injuring six people and destroying or damaging more than 120 houses.

The government of the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region said in a post on its official Weibo account that two people were seriously injured and four suffered minor injuries. Apart from this, 47 houses were demolished, 78 houses were damaged and some agricultural buildings collapsed.

The earthquake struck Wushu County in Aksu Province at 2 a.m. local time, state news agency Xinhua quoted China’s Earthquake Network Center as saying.

The US Geological Survey said that the earthquake occurred in the Tian Shan mountain range, which is a sensitive area in terms of earthquakes, but earthquakes of this scale rarely occur there.

He told that the highest earthquake of 7.1 magnitude in this area occurred in 1978.

State broadcaster CCTV said several tremors were felt after the earthquake. About 200 rescuers have been sent to the epicenter of the earthquake.

Russian news agency Tass reported that earthquake tremors were also felt in neighboring Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan.
