There are a few more days left for the Maharashtra Assembly elections. Meanwhile, both the alliance parties have got some relief from the rebel candidates who had become a headache for Mahayuti and Maha Vikas Aghadi. Monday was the last day for withdrawal of nominations in Maharashtra. At the last moment, 45 rebel candidates of Mahayuti and Maha Vikas Aghadi withdrew their nominations. The rebels agreed after the intervention of big leaders.
4 rebel candidates of NCP-SP withdrew
10-10 candidates of BJP and Congress, 8 of Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena and 6 of Ajit Pawar’s NCP withdrew their nominations. 7 rebel candidates of Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena-UBT and 4 rebel candidates of Sharad Pawar’s NCP-SP also withdrew from the fray. The rebels were first persuaded by the political parties. After this, on Sunday evening, almost all the political parties issued instructions that if their rebel leaders do not withdraw their nominations, action will be taken against them. The next day most of the rebels withdrew their nominations.
The nomination of rebels has definitely given some relief to the political parties, but it will be known when the election results come, who will benefit and who will be harmed by these leaders who are angry for not getting the ticket. Voting will be held in a single phase on November 20 for all 288 assembly seats of Maharashtra, while the results will be declared on November 23.
Avinash Rane withdraws name
Shinde’s Shiv Sena has withdrawn the name of its candidate Avinash Rane against Sana Malik from Anushakti Nagar. Dhanraj Mahale of Shiv Sena has also withdrawn from the fray against Narhari Zirwal in Dindori. In Udgir, Pathri and Vasmat also, Shiv Sena candidates have withdrawn their nomination and supported Ajit’s NCP candidates, but there are still 8 such seats in the Mahayuti, where BJP or Shiv Sena candidates are contesting against Ajit Pawar’s party candidates. Nawab Malik’s seat is also included in this.
Gopal Shetty also withdrew his nomination
Similarly, there are 14 such seats in Maha Vikas Aghadi where the candidates of the Aghadi are face to face. The most discussed was the nomination of BJP’s rebel candidate former MP Gopal Shetty from Borivali seat. Piyush Goyal and Vinod Tawde talked to Gopal Shetty together. After this, Gopal Shetty withdrew his name along with Piyush Goyal.
