A large number of fake doctors have been found in Surat city of Gujarat. Surat’s Pandesara police has exposed a large-scale fake medical degree racket running for about two decades, in which 14 people including the mastermind have been arrested. This big scam was carried out under the leadership of Ahmedabad’s doctor BK Rawat and doctor Rashesh Gujarati. It is being told that Rashesh is associated with Congress.
According to the police, through this scam, the accused helped more than 1,500 unqualified doctors to issue fake medical degrees. The accused issued fake Bachelor of Electro Homeopathic Medicine (BEMS) degrees for Rs 75 to 80 thousand. Police estimate that both the doctors earned at least Rs 10 crore through this scam.
Practice on the basis of fake certificates
Dr BK Rawat, a Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS) degree holder, worked with Dr Rasesh Gujarati, a Diploma in Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery (DHMS) degree holder, to execute the scam. According to the police, after obtaining fake degrees, the fake doctors started practicing on the basis of the same certificates. The scam started from Pandesara area of Surat and its heat reached Ahmedabad.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone-4) Vijay Singh Gurjar revealed that these degrees were issued in the name of an institution, Board of Electro Homeopathic Medicine, which does not even exist. The police in Pandesara intensified the investigation of clinics run by unqualified doctors, due to which these arrests were made.
Raid on 3 clinics in Pandesara
Surat police raided 3 clinics running in Pandesara and caught fake doctors. They had BEMS certificates and on investigation it was found that these were issued by two doctors from Surat. Police have arrested a total of 14 people in this case so far.
In the police investigation, it came to light that Rawat and two people named Rasesh were running a racket of giving fake medical degrees to unemployed 10-12th pass people for Rs 70 to 80 thousand. Not only this, they were also charging Rs 5000 every month for registration. In this racket running since 1992, 1200 people have been given fake degrees so far. According to the police, Rs 5000 also had to be paid every year to get the certificate renewed.
The accused has links with the Congress party
Pandesara police have arrested Rasesh Gujarati from Surat and BK Rawat from Ahmedabad on charges of issuing fake certificates. These people used to issue certificates for one year. And then they had to pay Rs 5000 separately every year for renewal. Now if any fake doctor was unable to pay his fees or talked about investigation, he was threatened.
It is being told that Rasesh Gujarati had hired two people named Irfan and Sobit Singh for this illegal business. These two people used to call such people who want to become doctors even if they are 10th pass. They used to get certificates within just a week.
However, Rasesh Gujarati, who is in the custody of Pandesara police, still maintains his statement that he has not given his degree to anyone. It has been revealed that the accused Rasesh Gujarati is a Congress leader. He was also appointed the president of Surat Doctor Cell. Congress appointed Gujarati in the year 2019. After the entire incident, the statement of Congress has come out. Congress leader Hemang Vasavada said that action is necessary against the quack doctor. He demands that action should be taken as per the rules.
