Kohli and Rohit see a big drop in Test rankings, Yashasvi is the only Indian batsman in the top 10

Indian team captain Rohit Sharma and star batsman Virat Kohli have seen a big drop in the latest ICC rankings. India is to play the fourth Test match against Australia from Thursday and before that, the rankings of both of them have dropped significantly.

Apart from Kohli and Rohit, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill have also suffered losses in the rankings. At the same time, Travis Head and Steve Smith have benefited in the batsmen’s rankings.

Yashasvi-Gill also suffered losses

Yashasvi, who reached second place in the Test rankings of batsmen after the Perth Test, has lost one place and has come to number five, while wicketkeeper batsman Rishabh Pant, who is struggling with poor form, has lost two places and reached number 11. In this way, Yashasvi is the only Indian in the top 10 in the Test batsmen’s rankings. Gill has also slipped to 20th place after losing four places.

Kohli out of top 20

Kohli has dropped out of the top 20 due to poor performance and has slipped to number 21 with a loss of one place. Captain Rohit Sharma, who has been going through poor form for some time, has lost five places and has reached 35th place. At the same time, Australia’s batsman Travis Head, who scored two consecutive centuries, has improved one place to fourth and Steve Smith has entered the top 10 with a gain of one place.

Benefit to Rahul-Jadeja

Opener KL Rahul has jumped 10 places and reached 40th position in the batsmen’s ranking. Rahul is the highest run-scorer for India in the current Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia. Rahul has scored 235 runs in three matches at an average of 47 and a strike rate of 50. During this, two half-centuries have come off his bat and his best personal score is 84.

Ravindra Jadeja, who was included in the playing-11 in the last match, has also improved nine places and has come to 42nd position in the batsmen’s ranking. Jadeja did not play in the Perth and Adelaide Tests against Australia, but he scored 77 runs in the first innings of the Gabba Test, due to which India was successful in saving the follow-on. Barring the second innings of the Perth Test, India’s batting has been poor against Australia so far, and it has suffered due to this in the rankings.
