Qatar Princess Driver Convicted: Britain’s Westminster Magistrate Court has sentenced a London man for stalking and harassing the princess of Qatar. 47-year-old Abusalah has previously been the princess’s driver. The driver was accused of stalking the princess, which Ihad Abusalah accepted and said, “I think the princess also loves me and we both are in a romantic relationship.” Abusalah’s lawyer told the court that he is mentally ill, due to this misunderstanding he has also divorced his wife.
Former driver Ihad Abusalah stalked the princess during March 2024 and sent her gifts and notes, he sent bracelets and flowers on the princess’s birthday and harassed her by calling repeatedly. Abusalah had the misconception that the princess also loves him and they have a romantic relationship.
Princess’s reaction
The princess’s lawyer told the court that we had to suffer a lot due to Abusalah’s actions. He was seen around their house and tried to send gifts through the staff. The princess also expressed concern about her and her family’s safety.
Abusalah’s argument
Abusalah’s lawyer argued that he is mentally ill, due to which he misunderstood his relationship with the princess. He also divorced his wife due to this misunderstanding.
Court’s decision
Based on the confession, the court convicted Abusalah. He was ordered to participate in 30 days of rehabilitation activities along with a 12-month community order. A three-year restraining order was issued, which prohibits Abusalah from contacting the princess and her family and going near their house.
