Jagjit Singh Dallewal Health: Farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal has decided to go on a hunger strike amid the farmer protest, due to which his health is deteriorating day by day. Meanwhile, the Punjab government formed a team on Sunday (December 29) which reached Jagjit Singh Dallewal. The team tried to persuade him to seek medical help, but Dallewal refused. At the same time, the farmer leader has expressed apprehension that force may be used to remove him from the protest site.
Jagjit Singh Dallewal’s indefinite fast has completed 35 days. Other farmer leaders in Khanauri say that everyone is continuing their protest in a Gandhian way. Now it is up to the government if it wants to use force to remove their senior leader Dallewal.
Punjab government’s action after Supreme Court’s reprimand
The Punjab government reached out to Jagjit Singh Dallewal when the Supreme Court strongly criticized the Punjab government for not sending the farmer leader to the hospital. A high-level team of government officials met Dallewal at the Khanauri border point on Sunday. The team included Deputy Inspector General of Police Mandeep Singh Sidhu and retired Additional DGP Jaskaran Singh. Later, farmer leaders said that Dallewal has refused to take any medical help.
After two rounds of talks with Jagjit Singh Dallewal and farmer leaders, Jaskaran Singh said late in the evening that there are instructions from the Supreme Court and the state government that Dallewal should take medical help. Jaskaran Singh said, “We discussed all the points with him. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is being apprised of the situation.”

It is worth noting that after the meeting, Jagjit Singh Dallewal released a short video message late on Sunday (December 29) evening. He appealed to the people to come in large numbers to Khanauri and said, “According to the information we are getting, very heavy force is being sent here. Punjab government at the behest of the Center, they are all coming. I appeal to you that this is your fight. We have said many times that our job is to fight the battle, it is your job to win,”
Dallewal also said, “When we started this movement, we felt that we could protest in a Gandhian way and we adopted the method of Satyagraha, but instead of listening to our voice, the central government is trying to crush our movement.”
