A dead body was found under mysterious circumstances in a garden in Akingam area of Achabal in Anantnag district of South Kashmir on Sunday. Police sources said that the local people saw the body hanging and informed the police. A police team immediately reached the spot and started investigating the matter. Sources said that the deceased is being identified.
Earlier, the body of Kulwant Singh (77), a resident of Manda, was recovered near Harimandir Ghat on the banks of Chenab river on Sunday. He was originally a resident of Sungal village and went missing under mysterious circumstances since Saturday.
Body recovered near canal
According to family members, Kulwant Singh used to go to the Gurudwara on the banks of Chenab every day to do religious recitation. When he did not return home on Saturday, the family started looking for him and informed the local police. The police took the help of SDRF. During the search operation on Sunday evening, the team recovered his body near the mouth of the canal coming out of the river at Harimandir Ghat.
Police engaged in investigation
The officials recovered the body and handed it over to the family after completing the legal procedures. Local people told that Kulwant Singh was a calm-natured religious person and had been serving in the Gurudwara daily for years. The police have registered a case and started investigation.
However, initially it seems to be a case of accidental fall in the river. Still, the police is also investigating other aspects. The police reached the spot, took the body in possession and sent it to the mortuary for post-mortem. The police say that they have registered a case and started investigation. The real cause of death will be known only after the investigation.
