A Brazilian woman has been arrested from Mumbai International Airport. The woman is accused of having 124 capsules filled with cocaine. Which she swallowed before landing at Mumbai airport on Wednesday. The officer said, Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) has arrested the Brazilian woman on charges of drug smuggling.
The officer said, these 124 capsules filled with cocaine were being smuggled into India, the cost of this cocaine is 9.73 crores. The officer said, investigation is being done to trace other members of the international drug syndicate.
The woman confessed the crime
An officer of DRI Mumbai Zonal Unit said, an input was received after the woman landed at Mumbai airport from the Brazilian city of Sao Paulo on Wednesday and then the officers stopped the woman after getting the input.
When the officers interrogated the woman, she told that she had swallowed the cocaine capsules. The woman told that she was smuggling the cocaine capsules to India by hiding them in her body. The female passenger was presented before the magistrate. The woman had swallowed 124 cocaine capsules, due to which she was admitted to JJ Hospital in Mumbai to avoid any threat to her life.
Arrest was also made in June
The officer said, the woman had swallowed 124 capsules containing 973 grams of cocaine to destroy them out of fear of getting caught. To stop the drugs being brought illegally from abroad in the country, strict action is being taken against such people in India and a campaign is being run to catch the members of the drug syndicate. Earlier, the Mumbai DRI Zonal Unit had arrested a person at Mumbai Airport in July, from whom 5.34 kg of drugs were seized, the value of which was said to be Rs 5 crore.
