Muhammad Ali International Airport is UPS’s largest hub

Louisville’s Muhammad Ali International Airport is UPS’s largest global hub (Worldport), spanning approximately 5 million square feet. More than 12,000 employees process approximately 2 million parcels daily. This accident has become a major concern for UPS.

Police issued an alert

Police have issued a shelter-in-place alert within an 8-kilometer radius of the airport, urging residents to remain indoors. The road between Fern Valley and Grade Lane has been closed to prevent disruptions to rescue and investigation efforts.

The aircraft is reported to be an MD-11F model, originally manufactured by McDonnell Douglas in 1991 and later taken over by Boeing. This model is primarily used for cargo operations and is regularly used by companies such as UPS, FedEx, and Lufthansa Cargo.
