What did Abdul Rehman say in the letter written to Kejriwal?
Seelampur MLA Abdul Rehman wrote a letter to Aam Aadmi Party’s National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal regarding his resignation. In which he said, “I Abdul Rehman, MLA Seelampur Assembly, today with a heavy heart am deciding to resign from the membership of Aam Aadmi Party and the party. This decision was not easy for me but after the way Muslims and other deprived communities have been neglected in the leadership and policies of the party, it has become my moral duty.

Abdul Rehman further wrote in the letter, “At the time of the establishment of Aam Aadmi Party, I considered it to be a party that would serve the people by rising above religion, caste and community, but in the past years, Aam Aadmi Party has repeatedly proved that it only does vote bank politics and when it comes to protecting the rights of any community, the party remains silent.”

This time AAP has given ticket to Zubair Chaudhary from Seelampur. AAP had announced the candidate in the first list for Seelampur seat. The first list was released on 21 November which included the names of 11 candidates.

In the 2020 Delhi Assembly elections, Abdul Rehman won from Seelampur seat by a margin of 36920 votes. BJP had given ticket to Kaushal Kumar Mishra against him. Kaushal got 35774 votes. Rehman got 72694 votes.
