Afghanistan: Ever since the Taliban government came to power in Afghanistan, new decrees are being issued continuously. In this sequence, Taliban has issued another new decree. It is said that this is a two and a half decade old law, which has been implemented again. According to the information, Taliban spread across the country from Kandahar. The call of Shariat is being heard there. According to the new decree, officials in Kandahar will no longer be able to take photos or videos of ‘living things’.
Taliban orders say that doing so causes more harm than good. This order issued for Kandahar is a reminder of the dark period when Afghanistan was under Taliban rule. Between 1996 and 2001, even television was banned in Afghanistan. Even then there was a ban on taking photographs of living people. The spokesperson of the Kandahar Governor confirmed the decree while talking to an international news agency. He said that these restrictions are not applicable to the general public and ‘independent media’.
Avoid taking pictures of living things
The letter sent to civil and military officials said they should “avoid taking photographs of living things in your formal and informal meetings, as it causes more harm than good.” According to the decree, text and audio are allowed.
Even before this many orders were issued
As soon as they recaptured Afghanistan, the Taliban banned women’s education. In November 2022, women were banned from visiting parks and gyms in Kabul. In December 2022, the Taliban also banned women from going to university. In January 2023, the Taliban banned male doctors from treating female patients in Balkh province. In July 2023, the Taliban had issued an order to close all beauty salons within a month.
