Afghanistan Flood:At least 50 people, including women and children, have lost their lives due to devastating floods in Afghanistan’s Ghor province. Local officials in Ghor said that about 2500 families, residential houses covering hundreds of hectares of agricultural land and orchards, hundreds of bridges, culverts and retaining walls in various areas were destroyed due to flash floods caused by heavy rains in the area on Friday.

On May 16, Pope Francis urged the international community to help flood victims in Afghanistan, Vatican News reported. During the general assembly, Pope Francis said he was praying for the victims, especially children and their families.
Floods in 18 districts of three provinces, 300 people killed
At least 300 people have died in floods in 18 districts of at least three provinces in northern Afghanistan in the past few days. According to the United Nations World Food Program (UNWFP), hundreds of people have been injured and many are believed to be still buried under the mud.
