After government’s strictness, Google withdrew the decision to remove Indian apps.

Google has withdrawn the decision to remove some Indian apps from its Play Store. This decision of Google was first opposed by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Founder of the startup and the Central Government had also expressed strong objection.

After this, Google has withdrawn the decision to remove many apps including Shaadi.com.

Official sources said on Saturday that after the intervention of Union Information Technology Minister Ashwini Vaishnav, Google has restored the removed Indian apps. The IT Minister has called a meeting with Google on Monday regarding this. Earlier, the Central Government had taken a strict stance on Google’s action for not following the app billing policy. Vaishnav said that removal of Indian apps cannot be allowed.

 

On the other hand, Info Edge co-founder Sanjeev Bikhchandani posted on microblogging platform ‘X’ and said that all the apps including Naukri.com, 99 acres.com Naukri and Shaadi.com have been restored again in Google Play Store. . In fact, Google had removed many major apps from its Play Store for non-compliance with billing policies.

 

It is noteworthy that a day ago, Google had removed the apps of more than 10 Indian companies from Google Play Store for not following its app billing policy. Google had said that the apps which were removed were given three years’ time but they have refused to accept the policy. The 10 Indian companies whose apps were removed by Google include Naukri.com, 99 acres.com and Shiksha.com, Shaadi.com, Matrimony.com, Bharat Matrimony, Balaji Telefilms’ Alt (formerly Alt Balaji), audio platform Apps from Kuku FM, dating service Quack Quack and Truly Madly were included.
