The 33-year-old bowler had performed strongly for India in the World Cup 2023. During this period he had taken 24 wickets. Despite the injury, he was the highest wicket taker for the Indian team. On Monday, he informed about the successful operation through his Twitter handle. The bowler told that he is recovering. Showing great enthusiasm for the comeback, Shami said, “I have just had a successful heel operation on the Achilles tendon! It will take some time to recover, but I am very eager to get back on my feet.”

Shami will not be able to play even IPL

There is still about a month left for IPL 2024 to start. Before that, the champion team of 2022 and the runner-up of 2023 Gujarat Titans have suffered a big setback. According to media reports, Shami will not be seen playing in the entire 17th edition of IPL due to left ankle injury. It is noteworthy that the fast bowler was not even selected for the tour of South Africa due to injury. Apart from this, he was also out of the Test series against England. Shami’s absence in this tournament can be very harmful for Gujarat. The team is already facing losses due to Hardik Pandya leaving Gujarat and going to Mumbai Indians.
