Following the threats to the Akola BJP city president, now Congress MLA from Akola West, Sajid Khan Pathan, has been threatened by the Bishnoi gang. Shubham Lonkar has threatened to kill him. It is being reported that this threat was made via phone call from California.
A demand of ₹10 crore was made over the phone, threatening dire consequences if the money was not paid. MLA Sajid Khan has reported the matter to the District Superintendent of Police (SP) and submitted the call recording. The MLA also demanded an arms license from the SP.
At around 1:30 am on February 16th, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis also called Sajid Khan. After a phone conversation, the Chief Minister assured him of security and stated that the government stands with him. Following this, Sajid Khan has been provided with Y-category security.
Significant increase in security for MLAs
Upon receiving information about another MLA from Akola district receiving a threat, the police administration immediately took action. The security of MLA Sajid Khan Pathan has been significantly increased, with four armed police personnel deployed for his protection. Taking cognizance of this serious matter, District Superintendent of Police Archit Chandak held an emergency meeting with senior police officers.
MLA Pathan has filed an official complaint, and the police are attempting to trace the source of this threat through technical investigation. Investigations are also underway into the Bishnoi gang’s connections to other states, including Rajasthan.
