Aligarh: Bihar Governor Arif Mohammad Khan attended the convocation of a private university in Aligarh today as the chief guest. Governor Arif Mohammad Khan awarded medals to the top students. During this, while addressing the media, he said that there is some problem in the Waqf Board and it needs improvement.
Governor Arif Mohammad Khan said, ‘It is not my job to comment on any leader but I had said one thing yesterday that I have had the Waqf Ministry in Uttar Pradesh. I did not see anything except litigation. In 1986, the Muslim Women Protection Act was passed on which I resigned. It was said that if there is no one to look after a divorced woman, then she will be given a Mahana Allowance from the Waqf Board.
He said that after two years I asked in the Parliament that which Waqf Board has made provision of how much money to give allowance to divorced women and how much money has been given so far? On which the answer came after two years that no Waqf Board has made a provision of a single penny. Nor has any money been given to anyone.
Need for improvement in Waqf-Rajpal
He said that the condition of Waqf Board is such that it has so much property but it does not have money to pay salaries. So where is this money going. If there is a problem somewhere, then it needs to be improved. I don’t know if change will come but there is a need for change.
Responding to media questions, Arif Mohammad Khan said that we liked it very much that anyone who is fundamentally excellent and has worked hard. The children have studied in a disciplined manner, it is a celebration of it and it inspires other children. We have no other way. If the essence of India is in anything, it is in knowledge, it is the culture of knowledge. This is a country of knowledge, so in any such program from primary school to university, yesterday I was in primary university school. Today I am in the university. By participating in these programs, it is a kind of worship of knowledge.
