Alwar POCSO court sentenced a cleric guilty of raping a 5-year-old girl to life imprisonment. The court gave harsh punishment to the accused on the basis of 16 witnesses and 18 evidences.

A POCSO court in Alwar, Rajasthan, has sentenced a cleric to life imprisonment for raping a five-year-old girl. The convicted cleric took the girl to a mosque on the pretext of rape in September 2024, where she was raped. The court, after considering all the evidence and witnesses, found the cleric guilty. The victim’s family is overjoyed with this verdict and thanked the court.

Judge Shilpa Sameer of POCSO Court No. 2 in Alwar district sentenced cleric Asjad, convicted of raping a 5-year-old girl, to rigorous life imprisonment until his last breath. Special Public Prosecutor Pankaj Yadav stated that the victim’s father had filed a report alleging that on September 22, 2024, cleric Asjad lured his 5-year-old daughter to the mosque on the pretext of giving her sweets and brutally assaulted her there.

18 evidences and 16 witnesses were presented in court.
The accused fled when the girl’s mother arrived at the scene. The police investigation found the incident to be true, filed a case against the accused, and filed a charge sheet in court. The prosecution presented 16 witnesses and 18 documentary evidence. The court convicted the accused based on the evidence, medical reports, and FSL evidence. While pronouncing the sentence, the judge stated that this brutality against a 5-year-old innocent girl was a heinous crime.

Life imprisonment for Maulvi Asjad
There can be no leniency in this case. The court sentenced Maulvi Asjad to rigorous life imprisonment and a fine. Furthermore, a recommendation has been sent to the District Legal Services Authority for compensation for the victim. The victim’s family was devastated after the incident came to light. However, due to the proactive work of the police, they received justice within just 13 months.
