A young man opened fire at a school in Wisconsin, USA on Monday morning, killing two people. Police said the attacker has also died. Madison Police Chief Shawn Barnes said six people were injured at Abundant Life Christian School. About 390 students study at this school. Police had earlier reported a total of five deaths.

Barnes said today is a sad day not only for Madison but for our entire country. He said the attacker committed suicide. Madison police said in a statement that the incident is under investigation. More information will be released as soon as it is available. At present, people need to stay away from this area. Police had closed the roads around the school on Monday afternoon.

Wisconsin Governor expressed grief
Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers said that we are praying for the children, teachers and the entire Abundant Life School staff. He said that we are waiting for more information and first we are grateful to those who are working quickly to respond. According to the school website, Abundant Life Christian School is non-sectarian and has about 390 students from kindergarten to high school.

Shooting near police training center
Police Chief Barnes says the attack took place only 3 miles (4.8 km) from the police training center. Barnes said that I am feeling a little disappointed now. He said that my heart is heavy about the incident at Madison’s school. We have to come together as a community and find out what happened here and make sure that this does not happen in any other place.
